Northwest Outdoor Skills (Fall Elective) (1.7.7)

The purpose of this class is to provide the opportunity for students to learn to perform CPR and 1st aide and integrate life pursuits such as Fishing, Orienteering, and Emergency Survival.  Students will be asked to reflect on a variety of current environmental issues facing our local area and global ecosystem.  Introductory field work in Fishing includes a field trip to a lake, and personal equipment will be required to a certain extent.

Advanced Northwest Outdoor Skills (Spring Elective) (1.7.7)

This class, a dovetail from the fall entry elective, goes farther into Northwest Outdoor Activities.  The class has offerings that include Archery, Fishing/Clam digging, Hiking, and Animal Track Identification.  Field trips include a half day to the beach for harvest, cleaning, and cooking razor clams, and a full day to hike Saddle Mountain.  It should be noted that each field trip will cost the student between $5.00-$10.00.  District policy dictates that all field trips are cost neutral, as the class will need to fund the bus and driver.
